1. The practical module should take place at a location other than the Institute of Biology. The host group should be based at a different institute of the Faculty of Life Sciences, another university faculty, a different university, or a non-university institution (MPI, Frauenhofer Institute, nature conservation agency, the zoo, etc.). The specific choice must be discussed with the mentor. The practical module can also be part of an internship abroad.
  2. The duration of the practical module must be at least 6 weeks.
  3. The general introductory event at the beginning of the 1st semester provides details of the practical module.
  4. An internship contract must be signed, which is available from the Student Administration Office; additional information
  5. After completing the internship, a report must be submitted to the mentor (English, approx. 5 pages including a schedule, brief introduction, results, discussion including the benefits for the degree programme; full details of a contact person for any queries arising).
  6. The content of the internship must be presented in a seminar, e.g. in the group for the theoretical and laboratory modules or in the mentor's group.
  7. The internship report and presentation are not graded — however, their successful completion must be confirmed.
  8. The practical module does not have to take place in the 3rd semester, it can be carried out at any time point or as part of an internship abroad.
