Abstract

I am a plant ecologist broadly interested in how plants respond to biotic and abiotic conditions. During my PhD and also my first postdoc at institute of Applied Ecology, China, I focused mainly on linking biodiversity and ecosystem functioning across different ecosystems, such as grasslands, forests, and drylands.

I am now interested in understanding the relationship between biodiversity and atmospheric chemistry and whether biodiversity will ultimately help mitigate the effects of climate change (the Breathing Nature project).

Professional career

  • since 03/2022
Post-doctoral Researcher. University of Leipzig, Systematic Botany and Functional Biodiversity
  • 09/2019 - 12/2021
Special research assistant. Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China
  • 09/2017 - 06/2019
Research assistant. University of Tehran, Faculty of Natural Resources (Iran)

Education

  • 02/2006 - 02/2010
BSc, University of Applied Science and Technology, Urmia, Iran
  • 09/2010 - 01/2013
MSc, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran
  • 09/2013 - 09/2017
PhD, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran

My main research interests are biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and global change. In particular, my research focuses on understanding the causes of changes in biodiversity and their outcomes on ecosystem functioning.

I am now interested in understanding the relationship between biodiversity and atmospheric chemistry and whether biodiversity will ultimately help mitigate the effects of climate change (the Breathing Nature project).
