Are you expecting? Congratulations!
We want to provide you and your unborn baby with the best possible support and protection.
What you need to do...

Please always use your student e-mail address and state your student number to communicate with the Office for Study Affairs.

The Maternity Protection Act in Germany also applies to pregnant and breastfeeding students. The law protects your health as an expectant mother and that of your child at your place of study during pregnancy, after giving birth and during the breastfeeding period.

The university is obliged to check the specific study conditions, the study locations and the study environment for possible risks to you as an expectant mother and your unborn child. Based on this risk assessment, necessary and suitable protective measures must be determined and implemented.

We therefore ask you to report your pregnancy to Ms. Wohlfarth in the Office for Study Affairs. She will then arrange an appointment for you to complete the "Notification of pregnancy" form together. Please bring suitable proof with you to this appointment (e.g. maternity pass, medical certificate) stating the expected date of delivery.

At the same time, please inform the internship supervisor if a laboratory internship is planned. The activities from which the embryo is to be protected can then be defined.

To take a break from studying you can apply for a leave of absence for a semester at the university's Student Office.
